Slice of Heaven

Three new necklaces...the first of many new additions to the online store (www.elizabethvolk.etsy.com) over the next few days!

These three pendants are large slices of agate. The shell charm is a vintage Chanel piece from the 70's/80's. The cascade of beads are candy jade (pink) and African wooden beads (blue).  I wore one of these pieces a few nigths ago and got nothing but compliments!

This summer, to fill my Project Runway void, I begrudgingly decided to give Bravo's The Fashion Show a chance. My expectations were low, but on the eve of the finale part 2 (revealing the winner!) I will finally admit that I was very pleasantly surprised with the show, especially with the final collections! The final three contestants did an amazing job, but my clear favorite is Anna.

Not only is her collection full of beautiful colors, but its the most wearable of the three. I found myself wanting every single piece in my closet, which is very, VERY rare for any fashion collection.

Good luck, Anna!

Here Comes the Bride

I absolutely LOVE working with Brides! From custom jewelry for their bridesmaids, earrings for themselves or even a necklace for the Mother of the Bride, I've had nothing but a wonderful time creating something special for their special day!

Later this month, I'll give you a peak at all our wedding jewelry, but for now, here's a quick little giftie for the planning Bride-to-Be: a list of a couple of fantastic blogs that will inspire a truly unique wedding!

GOING.TO.BE.GREAT.

A Little Break from the Summer Heat

I know that summer has just officially started, but here in Austin, we've already enjoyed 16 straight days of 100+ degree weather! I usually try to avoid complaining about the weather, because, really, there is NO point. I also am not one to wish for the current season to hurry up and be done with. BUT when I saw these AMAZING prints from the Fall '09 Ready to Wear runways, you better believe I was wishing for October! Enjoy!

The World's Worst Blogger

So, if you haven't already guessed, I'm not too great at this whole "insightfully blogging informative and entertaining entries everyday" thing. Frankly, the thought of blogging intimidates and scares me! I know every blog doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but I haven't quite accepted the idea of quick and sometimes imperfect entries. From this point on, I promise I will be a better blogger(shout out to my only 2 followers: Allison Oliver & Amanda Joiner...you truly are bffs4e!).

In the time of day that I've allotted for blogging, I've been learning another new technology: Twitter. I think I finally figured it out and I'm getting slightly hooked! Here's a little something from New York Magazine to help you build your following list or beef your already existing list up! Click below to follow me!

Obsession

OBSESSION:
One of my absolute favorite shopping websites out there is shopstyle.com . One visit and you will know why, but I'll give you some bullet points just in case.

Why I LOVE shopstyle.com:
  • combines HUNDREDS of shopping websites into ONE search
  • provides pictures of specific items
  • quick look feature pops up with more details about that item than you can imagine
  • tons of price points...you can find a splurge or a steal
  • sale alerts....'nuff said
Trust me, you will love it!

Sparkling Rhinestone Spheres

Bold, vintage jewelry is all the rage this season! What better way to update your wardrobe on a budget than adding statement jewelry to an outfit? One of the most exciting pieces in these vintage looks is the rhinestone ball. J.Crew sets their sparkly spheres set in a ring.

Scarlett Johansson walks the red carpet with a rhinestone ball necklace.

Our newest earrings, Glass Slipper, use Czech rhinestone balls to make a vintage, ladylike statement but with a current, edgy flair! Take a closer look: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21775809

It's Official!

The newly renovated Elizabeth Volk Jewelry Design website & store (elizabethvolk.etsy.com) are finally up and running! I can’t think of a better way to kick off the month of March! All of the blood, sweat & tears of frustration have finally paid off.

What’s even more exciting is the potential number of new customers that can (hopefully!) discover my jewelry and bring some glamour back to their everyday lives.

Thanks so much for visiting my website and reading my blog. I’ve never blogged before, but I’m going to make a promise right now to keep every entry exciting, fun and, of course, filled with fabulous jewelry!

Happy Monday!

Elizabeth
